I think the idea of spending your gold whenever a new chapter is somewhat true. I mean, there is alot of armor type to buy and weapons to collect. Not to mention if you have alot of PvE characters, you almost certainly will buy those new 15k armor for them. I'm waiting till i get enough gold to buy the new game 15k armor for my Wammo!

Everything has become a gold sink since the time just before the release of SF. It started with the skill trainers skill costs being capped at 1k, but reaching the cap excessively fast. Any new additions to PvE, past and current, are some way linked to a gold sink.

bah, spend money on my heroes?!? only the heroes I like and use often get whatever old greens I have lying around.. otherwise they can use whatever crap loot I would have salvaged.

And the heroes I don't like.. they don't even get leveled

All told I'm still hovering around 950K but that doesn't count the stacks of rubies and sapphires I still have.. oh my preeeeciooouseesss!

Thank god their armor auto-upgrades, I just farm hero armor drops and slap whatever crap insignias and runes I find on them. Except, I could use a sup death for my MM hero.

It's the skills that they use, not what they're wearing. In the preview event I didn't even know I could change their starter weapons until I was almost off newbie island lol. Still rocked the mobs.

Speaking of heroes- has anyone gotten the stolen Sunspear armor to upgrade the hero armor? I just saw the NPC yesterday in the challenge mission area, who said he could upgrade some of the hero armors. I only tried the mission once and didn't have stolen armor drop, at least not for me. Who knows if Koss got it and is holding out on me!

he doesn't "upgrade" the armor in the sense that the stats changes, it just changes the look of the armor =/

I figured that, but I thought it might be nice to have a hero that looked a little different. Does the armor look like the corresponding stuff we can get?

I don't believe its draining your money out Unless, you choose to buy everything. Weapons can be found. Mods can be found. Insignias can be found. Materials can be found. Runes can be found. Dyes can be found. Heck, even Gold can be found.

The only money sink, is you. no offense, hey even I'm buying things lol!

im a spendoholic ive spent in excess of 450k since nf was released on random dumb stuff like tonics, any and all alcohol, dyes, minipets, drake kabobs, scale fin soup, the list goes on and on.

i dont spend everything on myself though, i usually give stuff to guildies like rare weaps when i get bored with them, minipets, greens, blah blah.

what fun is the game if you dont spend, spend, spend?!?

the funny thing is, im really frugal in rl!! go figure.

hm, had 23k in storage when game came out, have 22k in storage now.

All of my characters are on their own for armor and weapons. I did save up a few weapons and runes awhile back in preperation for nightfall.....and with goty I have a lot of weapons at my disposal for heros. I have not bought anything for the heros --traded at the collectors for some weapons and used drops for the runes....none of them have even a minor vigor! They are just glorified henchies and as such will only get stuff as I see fit. They have good enough armor, ok weapons and no need of runes.

My characters will get skills and such as they get the cash. Each character is required to get the money to pay for their skills and armor---no taking from the bank! Now materials and dyes are another story. I have saved up materials and have enough dye for all my characters; some will be very yellow! Those dang insignias are my bane right now, dont get many to drop and they are too costly at the rune trader--when he has them.... oh well really dont need them for anyone but my new paragon anyways.

So until each character saves up the cash they wont be getting uber armor or weapons ---heck they have the best weapons from the previous chapters they dont need new ones! (and best doesnt mean green, many of my characters have nicely moded collector weapons!).

So no real money problems here.....it will just be awhile before I get all the skills and such, but it will also be awhile before I finish the game with any of my character too.

I pimped mine with preview and collector's edition stuff that I thought I'd never use, because of my limited selection of character classes I wanted to play...! Nightfall kind of forces you to think about all the classes; their skills and strategies for using them. Sometimes I think that's cool, other times it kind of irritates me - I'm a terrible Monk and tried a primary Mesmer and didn't really care for it.

I created a rune mule on my account for all the spare minor runes I salvage etc..

luckily my main character is a ranger, and due to my need to be able to run any build ever, I have plenty of bows, hammers and swords customized to myself, all which my heroes can use.

so I'm not complaining really, minor runes / recycling things I already have ftw. also I have a mule on another account with enough collector items I can turn in @ cantha to outfit every one of my caster henchies... twice.

Down about 20-30k because of skills. I haven't hit the money-making parts of the game yet. Thankfully, I have a fairly large-sized stash still (~275k) but plenty more heroes to equip. It balances out.

I've spend my last cash on my engame 15k warrior NIghtfall armor just an hour ago.. luckily I had a gothic dual axe I could sell to get my investment back in about 20 seconds ^^ (didn't use the axe at all, even though it was quite good ^^ (had kanaxai.. ))

I know what this thread concept is about, I'm like 90k in the hole to a guildie or two

I wish I had known that it'd cost an additional 15k or so per set of +energy armor before I decided to upgrade my monk and necro's armors. At least they're spiffy looking.

Yep, Nightfall costs. But now I got something to do with all those gold and green weapons that drop instead of selling them to the merchant for 36g. And don't cry too much about the prices they been fixing them or they would be a lot higher. Superior Ab used to be 100k now even with it being sold out at the trader it still is only selling for about 700g. As soon as they stopped some of the price fixing after Holloween the prices started to stabelize. But they still got stops on some stuff. When it stops altogeter watch the prices rise.

I've never used the +energy stuff since the +hp stuff was introduced in Factions. In most cases, I don't need the extra energy since I've learned how to manage my own energy. Fortunately for me, the +hp insignias are a third of the price of the +energy ones.

I have had no money issues so far. I just check drops for upgrades that are better than what my heroes already have. "Hey, Koss! I got you a +24HP pommel to replace your +23HP. You get one more HP!" Dunkoro hasn't complained yet about having to use Illiana's Staff. Reyna is borrowing my Poisonous Longbow of Defense.

As far as buying runes for my heroes, I just buy the cheapest available, which is usually major runes. Some minors are 1K plus while their major counterparts are only 100gp. They will get preferred items as I find them. Then again I am a bit of a stickler for finding my own stuff. I feel happier using items I have aquired myself.

The biggest problem is going to be when I start sharing items across other characters' heroes. Then I am going to have to remember where the heck all my items are. They will serve as disorganized weapons mules I can assure you.

Cool

i also like the idea of getting skills from quests but ahh well.

here is my question. say you have a large amount of unspent belthzars pvp points. I have found that if u buy the skill at a priest it will unlock it at any skill trainer in pvp. so say you have 10,000 point i believe u could buy 10 skills for any class. so know create a factions character, we all know how easy and fast it is to get to a skill trainer, borrow some money from storage and buy the skill or skills you desired, since they should be unlocked.

now your heros can use those skills. takes time instead of gold, but this is for skills that you have never created a class for and need 8 skills for a decent build for your hero. also u gotta pvp once and a while but beths points are easy to get.

when skills get to expensive delete character and start a new one to reset the price. Will this work? I'm in class right now but wonder if this could be possible since i pvp for my glads title and get beths points fast. let me know
